M embers of the Ameri- can Spe- cialty Toy Retailing Associaon (ASTRA) re- cently voted for the orga- nizaon's 2018 Best Toys for Kids award winners. The list includes 17 winning toys in 16 categories. "ASTRA's Best Toys for Kids award program is different from other top toy lists because it reflects the collec1ve ex- per1se of hundreds of toy retailers who know toys inside out," says Kimberly Mosley, president of ASTRA. "The list of winners is a well-balanced representa- 1on of the fun, top-quality, high play value products consumers can find in lo- cally-owned neighborhood toy stores around the country." The Best Toys for Kids program was created by ASTRA to help its retailer members a2ract media coverage and customers to their stores during the all- important fourth quarter. "The Best Toys for Kids awards program is one more way to differen1ate the outstand- ing value of specialty toys and to differ- en1ate ASTRA stores," says Mosley. ASTRA provides 300 free, professionally designed, four-color 2018 Best Toys brochures to member retailers for use in their holiday marke1ng. For more in- forma1on visit www.astratoy.org ◆ ASTRA Names Top Toys for the Season 6 AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2018 BABY & CHILDREN'S PRODUCT NEWS ™ ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas October 9-11 N etworking, product showcases, and innova1ve products are ex- p ected to a2ract more than 1,000 retailers from around the world to the ABC Kids Expo, scheduled October 9- 11 at the Las Vegas Conven1on Center. The 16th annual event is expected to at- tract 600 or more returning exhibitors and a number of new exhibi1ng brands. First held in 2001 with 100 booths, the event has grown exponen1ally. A2endees should expect to see cut- 1ng edge technology, safety, travel, and convenience products designed to ap- peal to the average millennial parents who are spending $12,000 a year, on average, to buy the best for their chil- dren. Major exhibitor categories range from maternity and baby gear to apparel and gis, as well as furnishings, toys, and more. Special juried sec1ons are dedi- cated to Modern Child®, and Naturally Kids®. Maternity Square® features man- ufacturers of maternity clothing and lin- gerie as well as fashion and accessory items such as diaper bags, nursing slings, a nd nursing covers. A runway event showcases many of the products. The Modern Child® Pavilion features juvenile product manufacturers that focus on contemporary design and high func1onality and represents the most in- nova1ve designs within numerous prod- uct categories. The Naturally Kid® pavilion showcases manufacturers of environmentally friendly products that are healthy for both families and young children and demonstrate a responsibility to the planet and its natural resources. Returning this year, the New Product Showcase Awards Of Dis1nc1on will rec- ognize the best products from par1cipat- ing brands. The New Product Showcase is located near the trade show floor. Providing inventors an opportunity show their prototypes in a conceptual or prototype state in an enclosed pavilion is the Inven1on Connec1on.
