The educa.onal con- ference provides independent store retailers with the opportunity to acquire more knowledge about the products t hey sell, and learn about ever-changing relevant industry is- sues that affect them now and in the future. T he ABC Spring Educa.onal Conference and Trade Show is designed for independent juvenile products retailers, their suppliers, and their representa.ves. According to Larry Schur, president of All Baby & Child Corpora.on, it is the only event in America dedicated to this specialty market." An exhibitor lunch and learn session featuring Jus.n Post, is designed to help manufacturers and sales representa.ves learn how to profit by using available free tools to obtain leads and generate increased return on investment, according to Schur. The lunch session is slated for May 22. Post has spent the last 8 years at Map Your Show (MYS) as- exhibitors to beer market and mone.ze their aen- dance at trade shows and conferences by showing off content before, during, and aer an event, helping to extend the life of a trade show. He will be available aer the session for more ques.ons. The educa.onal component of the event for retailers is being hosted by Brixy, a network of independently owned and operated baby stores. P roduct training workshops are being planned as small group,, hands on training sessions for retailers. Brands on hand will include gear, wood, solu.on, and technology providers will be on hand to share informa.on. A millennial consumer panel is planned to provide aen- dees with insight into the minds of today's consumers, their v alues, what they expect, how best to communicate with them, and to meet their wants and needs. An open forum ses- sion between retailers and manufacturers is expected to solicit frank dialog on best prac.ces of business. The annual event also provides ABC with the opportunity to announce ABC scholarship winners, selected by an independ- ent third party from applica.ons submied by industry retail- ers and manufacturers. Now in its third year, ABC's scholarship program will award its 2018 scholarship winners a total of $10,000. The trade show featuring more than 60 exhibitors is sched- uled from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Thursday. Brixy will hold its member on Tues- day, May 22. The Marketplace & Academy will take place at the Ernest N. Morial Con- ven.on Center in New Orleans. The annual event sponsored by the American Specialty Toy Retailing Asso- cia.on features more than 500 ex- hibitors and 1,300 independent retailer a/endees. More than 100 new, first- .me vendors will be on hand. Features of the Marketplace include a special zone which high- lights the magic and excitement of Neighborhood Toy Store Day where visitors will find complimentary plan- ning resources, hands-on product demonstra.ons, and special offers from vendors. At the Industry Service Pavilion visi- tors will find the latest tools, technolo- gies, and resources to streamline their toy retailing businesses.
